Scholarship Resources

The scholarships listed below are made possible by generous people from within and outside the Morenci community. To fill out the forms electronically, you must first download them to your computer. Morenci Education Foundation Scholarship
The Morenci Education Foundation Scholarship is available for any Morenci High School previous graduate or graduating senior that will be attending a 2 or 4 year post secondary institution. The applicant must indicate a desire to complete the next level of their education. The Foundation Board of Directors will determine the number and the amount of the yearly scholarships.

Dorothy Onweller Memorial Scholarship (same form as above)
The Dorothy H. Onweller Memorial Scholarship is available for any Morenci High School previous graduate or graduating senior entering/enrolled in a four year college or university course of study. One scholarship is awarded annually. The scholarship shall be in the amount of $1,000 with one-half ($500) being payable in the fall and the other half $500) payable at the beginning of the second term.
*Applicants MUST have attended Morenci Area Schools from kindergarten through their senior year.

Neal V. Singles Memorial Scholarship (same form as above)
The Morenci Education Foundation Neal V. Singles Memorial Scholarships are available for any Morenci High School graduating senior entering/enrolled in a four year college or university course of study. One scholarship is awarded annually to a Morenci HS graduating senior. The scholarship shall be in the amount of $1,000 with one-half ($500) being payable in the fall and the other half ($500) payable at the beginning of the second term.
*Applicants desiring to pursue a career in the field of education will be given highest preference and applicants must have been involved in athletics in some capacity.

Morenci Sportsmans’s Club Scholarship (same form as above)
The Morenci Sportsman Club Scholarship is available for any Morenci High School-graduating senior or past graduate that will be attending a 2 year post secondary trade school/community college institution. The applicant must indicate a desire to complete the next level of their education.
*Applicants must submit proof of completion of a Michigan Hunter Safety Course.

Vicky and John Hanawalt Scholarship (same form as above)
The Vicky and John Hanawalt scholarship is available for any Morenci High School-graduating senior that will be attending a 2 year or 4 year post secondary trade school/community college/university. The applicant must indicate a desire to complete the next level of their education. The scholarship shall be in the amount of $500 with one-half ($250) being payable in the fall and the other half ($250) payable at the beginning of the second term.
*Applicants must have been involved in the community/school extra curriculum and carry a grade point average of 3.0 or above.

Jim Mynhier Memorial Scholarship (same form as above)
The Jim Mynhier Memorial Scholarship is available for any Morenci High School graduating senior that will be attending a 2 or 4 year post secondary institution. The applicant must indicate a desire to complete the next level of their education. The scholarship shall be in the amount of $1,000 with one-half ($500) being payable in the fall and the other half ($500) payable at the beginning of the second term.
*Applicants desiring to pursue a career in Construction will be given highest preference.

Sharon K Bruce Memorial Scholarship (same form as above)
The Sharon K Bruce Memorial Scholarship is available for any Morenci High School graduating senior that will be entering a 2 year or 4 year post-secondary community college/university, as a full time student (carrying 12 + credit hours). The applicant must indicate a desire to complete the next level of their education. The scholarship shall be in the amount of $500 with one-half ($250) being payable in the fall and the other half ($250) payable at the beginning of the second term.
*Applicants must have been involved in a volunteer capacity or music or sports curriculum and carry a grade point average of 3.0 or above.

Morenci Athletic Boosters Scholarship (same form as above)
The Morenci Athletic Boosters Scholarship is available for any Morenci High School graduating senior athlete competing in at least one school funded varsity sport entering in a 2 or 4 year college course of study. Two scholarships will be awarded, one male and one female in the amount of $500 payable in the fall.
*Applicants who show outstanding effort in their desire to excel in all areas of academics, athletics and community involvement will be given highest preference.

Bovee-Bell Chevrolet Cadillac Scholarship (same form as above)
The Bovee-Bell Chevrolet Cadillac Scholarship is only available for a Morenci Area graduating senior that will be attending a 2 year or 4 year post-secondary trade school. The applicant must indicate a desire to complete the next level of their education. The scholarship shall be in the amount of $1000 with one half ($500) being payable in the fall and the other half ($500) payable at the beginning of the second term.
*Applicants must be pursuing a career in the field of automotive-service side/mechanic/collision repair/parts in a dealership setting and carry a grade point average of 2.5 or above.

V.C. Tom Valentine Memorial Scholarship (same form as above)
The V.C. Tom Valentine Memorial Scholarship is available for any Morenci High School graduating senior that will be attending a 2 year post-secondary trade school/community college institution. The applicant must indicate a desire to complete the next level of their education. The scholarship shall be in the amount of $500.00 with one-half ($250) being payable in the fall and the other half ($250) payable at the beginning of the second term.


Vicki M. and H. Kiel Plummer Memorial Scholarship (separate form)
The Vicki M. and H. Kiel Plummer Memorial Scholarship is only available to any current residents of Seneca Township. This scholarship is available to a graduating senior, student already enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate level program of study, or a resident with a G.E.D., who is interested in furthering their education and/or training. Eligibility for an award of up to $2500 is based on financial need and the award is renewable for up to four years of education.


Evelyn and Ronald Wirick Foundation Scholarship (separate form)
The Evelyn and Ronald Wirick Foundation Scholarships are available for Morenci Area School graduates or graduating senior students, who intend to apply for admission to and demonstrate the desire to successfully complete at least a four year college curriculum. Each year the directors shall determine the number and amount of scholarships to be awarded, which may vary among applicants.


Rex Riley Scholarship (separate form)
The Rex Riley Scholarship is available to a graduating senior from the Morenci Area School System that will be attending a 2 year or 4 year post secondary trade school, community college or university.
